Newport Beach, California – Unitek Learning has partnered with Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, New Mexico to provide nursing education to its employees. Presbyterian Healthcare Services is a nonprofit healthcare system that consists of nine hospitals, a statewide health plan, and a growing medical group. Founded in 1908, they are New Mexico’s largest private employer with more than 13,000 employees, including more than 1,600 providers and almost 4,700 nurses.

“We are honored to partner with Presbyterian Healthcare Services,” said Karilyn Van Oosten, Vice President of Strategic Business Development at Unitek Learning. “With several of its hospitals recognized by U.S. News Best Hospitals, we look forward to helping them create a career pathway for their workforce. Together, we can collaborate on the challenges facing the medical industry and create a customized workforce solution.”

Employees of Presbyterian Healthcare Services can start their career education in nursing through Unitek’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program or the Practical Nursing (LPN) program.

“Presbyterian is excited to partner with Unitek to create a pathway for our workforce to advance in the field of nursing,” said Holly Muller, Chief Nursing Officer, Presbyterian Delivery System. “This partnership aims to help address the nursing shortage in New Mexico by making access to educational opportunities easier for our employees.”

Abdel Yosef, Chief Academic Officer at Unitek Learning, added: “Through this partnership, we seek to improve access to healthcare services and nursing education. Our ultimate goal is to partner with multiple organizations so that we may prepare the nurses of the future. We’ve reached a moment in history where it’s dire that academia and practice innovate to co-create strong educational and workforce partnerships.”

The first start date for these students is planned to begin in April of 2024. Currently, Unitek’s Brookline College is working with the New Mexico Board of Nursing to seek approval for the additional seats to accommodate Presbyterian Health nursing students.
